PREMIER MABUZA TO HOLD A CONSULTATIVE DIALOGUE WITH THE MINING SECTOR AND RECEIVE INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENT FROM ANGLOAMERICAN

Mpumalanga Premier David Mabuza will tomorrow hold a consultative dialogue with the mining sector to deliberate on a holistic approach for sustainable growth and a continued wellbeing of the communities in which the mining industry operate in.

The dialogue will assist the Premier understand the challenges faced by the mining industry and together determine what the mining sector could contribute in the lives of the communities residing adjacent the mines in the province.

During the workshop, the Premier will further receive a R17 million-service delivery package and a further R11 million for capacity building development programme on behalf of Emalahleni Local Municipality, from one of the mining companies operating in the province, AngloAmerican. The infrastructure investment consists of a call centre software, 20 Ford Rangers vehicles, a crane truck, aerial platform and switchgear.

According to AngloAmerican Head of Corporate Affairs, Mining and Property Rights: Coal South Africa Bheki Khumalo, the infrastructure investment would offer an excellent opportunity to demonstrate the implementation of the Mpumalanga Mining Lekgotla Resolutions signed two years ago.

The dialogue and handover is scheduled as follows:
