Dr Clifford Mkasi, will table Roads and Transport Policy and Budget Vote

MEC for Public Works, Roads and Transport, Dr Clifford
Mkasi, will present the 2009/10 Roads and Transport Policy and Budget Vote
speech on Thursday, 20 August 2009 at the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature.
MEC Mkasi is expected to focus on a number of programmes
under the Roads and Transport Budget Vote. Amongst others, the MEC will
highlight the department’s achievements and challenges during the 2008/09
financial year. He will then outline the department’s direction on the new
financial year of 2009/10.
The MEC will focus on issues that include amongst others,
law enforcement, road safety education, licensing and administration.
The MEC will also highlight the progress on the Taxi
Recapitalisation Programme and how he plans to shape public transport in the
province.
MEC Mkasi is also expected to outline the progress on a
number of projects under the Roads Infrastructure Programme. This includes
amongst others, the construction of the 2010 projects such as the P166/1 road
construction, N4 by pass and the Multi- Modal Public Transport Project.
The general administration of the department will also be
the topic of the day as there is a need to share the light on how the department
plans to continue with the empowerment of its staff in order to ensure service
delivery.
The media is therefore, all people are expected to be
seated by 13h30.
