MEMORIAL SERVICE AND SPECIAL PROVINCIAL OFFICIAL FUNERAL FOR THE LATE RAY CHIKAPA PHIRI

Mbombela – The Mpumalanga Provincial Government would like to officially announce details of the memorial and funeral arrangements for the legendary jazz icon, Mr Ray Chikapa Phiri, who passed away on Wednesday, 12 July 2017.
This follows an agreement with the family of the late Ray Phiri of Stimela fame, after a visit this morning (Thursday, 13 July 2017), by a delegation of the Executive Council of Mpumalanga, led by the Acting Premier, Ms Refilwe Mtshweni. Mr Phiri will be afforded the Special Provincial Official Funeral – bestowed to outstanding and distinguished persons specifically designated by the President of the Republic of South Africa, on request by the Premier of a province.
