MPUMALANGA PREMIER REFILWE MTSHWENI-TSIPANE PAYS A VISIT TO THE FAMILY OF LATE BANKFONTEIN LEARNER


The Premier of Mpumalanga Province, Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane ,accompanied by the MEC for Education, Bonakele Majuba and MEC for Human Settlements, Norah Mahlangu , led a delegation of the Provincial Government to the family of a grade six learner who sadly passed away at the Bankfontein Combined School in the Steve Tshwete Local Municipality on Wednesday the 25th of November 2020.

In extending her condolences to the family, the Premier said ”We are deeply saddened by this unfortunate and unacceptable loss of a young life.”

The Premier stated that the alleged poor workmanship in erecting the JOJO tank that ultimately collapsed and fatally injured the young learner will be throughly investigated and consequence management shall be implemented.

The Premier further directed an audit be conducted on the quality of JOJO tanks instillations across the Province.

“Painful as this tragedy has been, we as the Provincial Government have a responsibility to ensure that this unfortunate incident is not repeated.Our children’s safety in all our learning institutions is a non-negotiable priority,” said the Premier.
