PREMIER LEADS AN ENTOURAGE ON A VISIT TO DAMAGED INFRASTRUCTURE

The Mpumalanga Premier, Ms Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane will lead an entourage of MEC, Executive Mayors and Senior officials to the disaster hit areas tomorrow. MEC for COGTA Mr Mandla Msibi, Ehlanzeni District Mayor, Cllr Jaster Sidell and Cllr Sipho Mathonsi of the City of Mbombela will accompany Premier Mtshweni Tsipane on the site visits, which include damaged roads and bridges as Mpumalanga is making efforts to respond to the emergencies.The tropical storm, accompanied by heavy rain has left a trail of destruction in the infrastructure, including housing structures. In some instances, motorists had to be diverted to alternative roads due to severe damages, whilst some families were left homeless. Eight fatalities due to drowning in rivers, dams and water streams have occurred while 5 persons are still missing.
