Welcome to the Mpumalanga Provincial Government

IT HAS BEEN A YEAR SINCE MPUMALANGA PROVINCE RECORDED ITS FIRST CONFIRMED POSITIVE COVID-19 CASE

11 March 2021

Today, the 11th of March 2021 the Province marks a year since we recorded our first confirmed positive COVID-19 case.

Since then, our lives changed and we had to intensify the fight against the spread of the pandemic.

To date, the province’s recovery rate is sitting at 97 %, this is commendable but we want to aim higher than this as we strive for lesser positive cases.

The Province has currently recorded a total of 72 267 positive cases(4.7%) and 1,291 COVID-19 deaths and 1037 active cases.

We have targeted to vaccinate 69 653 health care workers during the first phase which is currently underway.

The battle against COVID-19 is not yet over. We still must continue to form a united front against this pandemic.

“We could not have done this alone, our frontline health care workers played and continue to play a central role risking their lives and that of their families to save ours, we salute and thank them for their selflessness” said the Premier.

The pandemic is not over yet, therefore please continue to follow COVID 19 protocols.

Wear your masks, sanitize, wash your hands with soap and keep social distancing.
