MPUMALANGA PREMIER SADDENED BY THE BRUTAL KILLING OF A YOUNG WOMAN BY HER PARTNER IN NKOMAZI

15 October 2021

Mpumalanga Premier, Ms. Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane has extended her condolences to the family of Ms. Wandile Lucia Khoza following her fatal shooting by her partner on Tuesday, 12 October 2021, in Malelane.

“The scourge of gender based violence has, once again, reared its ugly head in our beautiful Province. It is unacceptable that women continue to be denied their constitutionally protected right to safety and security”, said the Premier.

“ I call upon our communities to be vigilant and report suspected instances of gender based violence to law enforcement agencies. Our silence will continue to rob our children of their mothers and communities of its leaders.”

“This despicable act must be condemned with the contempt it deserves. I trust that our law enforcement agencies will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the perpetrator is brought to justice”, concluded the Premier.

The alleged perpetrator who is said to be a member of the South African Defence Force is expected to appear at the Tonga Magistrate’s Court in Nkomazi.
