MPUMALANGA DELEGATION MEETS RUSSIAN AUTHORITIES TO DISCUSS THE PLIGHT OF STUDENTS

The Premier , Ms Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane accompanied by the Acting Ambassador, Ms Thandi Mgxwati, the Director General Mr Makhukhu Mampuru and the Head of the Department for Education, Ms Lucy Moyane have met with delegations from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as the Ministry of Education and Science within the Russian Federation. These meetings sought to develop solutions to the recent challenges encountered by Mpumalanga students studying in the Russian Federation.

The meetings resolved to, amongst others, develop a more effective framework for the management of all matters pertaining Mpumalanga students within the Russian Federation.

Furthermore, the South African Embassy has committed to playing a more central role in coordinating better relations between the Mpumalanga Provincial Government and the institutions of higher learning in the Russian Federation.

The delegation will also visit different universities where the Mpumalanga students are studying before they return home.
