Welcome to the Mpumalanga Provincial Government

PREMIER MTSHWENI-TSIPANE’S NEW YEAR MESSAGE

29 December 2022

Mpumalanga Premier, Ms Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane has expressed optimism about the hospitality of the tourism sector during the festive season. This as an influx of tourists and holiday makers visit Mpumalanga’s tourist attraction sites during the festive holidays, in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Recently, the province welcomed a group of German tourists, which marked the start of a route between the Frankfurt and the Mpumalanga Kruger International Airports. The German tourists were transported by the Lufthansa Airlines, based on an agreement with the Euro-Wings division.

Mtshweni-Tsipane has applauded tourism operators for the treatment of tourists with hospitality and expressed hope that this will be a legacy that Mpumalanga will be known for. She says tourism plays a crucial role in revitalizing the economy of the province and urged tourism operators and the citizens to spare no effort in maintaining the image of Mpumalanga as a tourist destination of choice in the country.

In her new year message, Mtshweni-Tsipane further urged road users to observe traffic rules to prevent road accidents. She says the visibility of law enforcement agencies on the roads has been intensified during the festive season, to mitigate road fatalities.

The Premier made a passionate plea to all sectors of the society to heighten the fight against the scourge of Gender-Based Violence (GBVF). She says the festivities of the new year, to mark the start of 2023, will be meaningless as long as women and children are vulnerable. “Let us all stop Gender-Based Violence and Femicide against women and children. Let us spare their lives against the perpetrators, by reporting such cases to the local police,” says the Premier.
