MPUMALANGA PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT ENCOURAGES ELIGIBLE VOTERS TO REGISTER THIS WEEKEND FOR THE UPCOMING ELECTIONS

02 February 2024

The Mpumalanga Provincial Government urges the citizens to exercise their hard fought democratic right to vote in the upcoming elections by utilising the opportunity to register. The Premier, Ms Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane says the registration process is a key requirement to vote in the elections, and that all eligible voters in the province should seize the opportunity to make their voices heard on election day, scheduled to take place this year.

The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) of South Africa has announced that all voting stations across the country will be opened this weekend 03 – 04 February 2024 between 08h00 and 17h00 for the voters to verify, change or register their details.

Further, the Department of Home Affairs has also pronounced its offices will be open for an extra two hours from today (Friday) until Sunday, for those citizens who have already applied to collect their Identity Documents. The department will also offer the citizens an opportunity to apply for the temporary Identity Documents in support of the voter registration weekend.

The Provincial Government has emphasised that failure to register, the citizens will automatically deprive themselves an opportunity to make their voice heard, on who they democratically want to lead the country on their behalf.
