PREMIER NDLOVU APPOINTS MS. LEAH MABUZA AS MEC FOR DCSR

The Mpumalanga Premier, Mr. Mandla Ndlovu has appointed Ms. Leah Mabuza as the new Member of the Executive Council for the Department of Culture, Sport and Recreation.

MEC Mabuza's appointment follows the resignation of Mr. Fidel Mlombo to allow the governing party to implement its guidelines on gender balance.

Premier Ndlovu has congratulated MEC Mabuza on her new responsibility, adding that she is not new in government. She was previously the Executie Mayor of Nkangala District and later Emalahleni Local Municipality.

"As the Premier of the province I had to apply my mind, and I have decided to invite one of the senior members of the governing party, Ms. Leah Mabuza to be a Member of the Executive Council."

"The new MEC is not only appointed only as a woman, but a person who grew up in the organization, holding various roles and responsibilities. We expect her to serve the people of the province with high morals. We wish the MEC everything of the best in her new responsibility. We know that she has never failed in the past and she is not going to fail on this role," said Premier Ndlovu.

The Premier says Mpumalanga has an abundance of talent in the sport arena and the creative industry. He says part of MEC Mabuza's assignment is to promote programmes that unearth talents for variuos sport activities and the creative industry. He urged her to ensure that the international rugby game between the Springboks and Argentina to be held at the Mbombela Stadium on the 28th of September 2024, becomes a success.

The Premier further applauded former MEC Mlombo for his sterling performance, few months into the position. He says Mr. Mlombo had an understanding of the department despite a short stint. He is now deployed to the Provincial Legislature.
