PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT DISTANCES ITSELF FROM CLAIMS OF CORONATION
12 December 2024
The Mpumalanga Provincial Government has noted the claims about the installation ceremony of Dr Nkosinathi Mahlangu. In an invitation to some Members of the Executive Council, the claim suggests that Mahlangu will be installed as the first Africa President of the International Association of World Peace of Advocates in South Africa on Friday in Kwamhlanga.
The Premier, Mr. Mandla Ndlovu says the Provincial Government has official records of all the members of the Institution of Traditional Leadership in Mpumalanga. However, the name of Mahlangu is not listed in the records. “We know our Traditional Leaders in Mpumalanga. The name of Mahlangu does not appear as a recognised King. As such, we distance ourselves from the ceremony. Anyone who will attend, will do so in their personal capacity, not as a representative of the Government,” the Premier emphasised.
Mr. Ndlovu further warned individuals not to sow divisions in the communities through unsubstantiated claims of Chieftaincy. “Traditional Leaders are appointed by the Inner Royal families and receive certificates of recognition from the Provincial Government, while Kings are recognised by the Presidency. Without this valid process, no one should claim the position,” the Premier stated.
