The Mpumalanga Provincial Government has conveyed condolences to the family of the late Ms Violet Siwela, a former MEC, who passed away on Wednesday. Siwela has served in the Provincial Government as MEC for Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs (DARDLEA) and as MEC for Human Settlement.

Her war against poverty was a writing on the wall, with the construction of many houses to shelter citizens in distress, as evidence. She went beyond the call of duty to implement poverty-alleviation programmes, as part of food security in Mpumalanga,” the Premier stated.

Siwela has also served in the Provincial Legislature as a Speaker. At the time of her demise, she was the Chairperson of the Powers and Priviledges Committee in the National Assembly.

Mtshweni-Tsipane says Siwela’s name is on the list of public represantatives who served the citizens of Mpumalanga with distinction, as a deployee of the ruling party, the ANC. “On behalf of the Provincial Government and the citizens, we convey our condolences to Siwela’s family.
