PREMIER NDLOVU WELCOMES FREEDOM DAY COMMEMORATION IN THE MPUMALANGA PROVINCE
25 April 2025The Mpumalanga Premier, Mr Mandla Ndlovu says the Province is honoured and ready to host this year’s National Freedom Day Commemoration in Ermelo, at the Msukaligwa Local Municipality. President Cyril Ramaphosa will address the commemoration.
Preparations are at an advanced stage in anticipation of scores of people expected to descend in the Province, to participate in the celebrations, at the local SJ Swanepoel Stadium.
The Premier says the people of Mpumalanga’s hospitality and friendliness will create lasting memories for all the visitors. This year’s National Freedom Day Celebrations will focus on the progress made since 1994 in building a united and an inclusive nation. It will also reflect on the collective resilience in safeguarding democratic gains and assessment of the challenges faced by the country.
Premier Ndlovu says the Province’s vast experience of hosting major commemorative, social and sporting gatherings is well documented and the National Freedom Day Commemoration will be no exception. He added that the Province is committed to do its best to make the Commemoration a memorable experience for visitors, for them to make Mpumalanga their preferred destination for both leisure and business, in the future.
“We exceeded expectations when we hosted the 2010 Soccer World cup matches and many social events. We believe that hosting the National Freedom Day Commemoration will not only contribute to the success of the event itself, but will also boost our local tourism and support for the Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs).
